Like the other Barn Rifle on this site, this piece represents the bare minimum in adornment and hardware. Instead of the elaborate embellishment of original Rupp or Moll rifles, a plain rifle must capture the eye with only its shape and architecture. This piece was built with patina finish throughout, the hand scraped stock highlighting the curly figure of the maple stock. The stock is stained with Aquafortis, then layers of finish are applied and rubbed back to give the appearance of a well-cared for original. The cast brass triggerguard and buttplate are coarsely filed and burnished, with two simple foreward ramrod thimbles on the forestock.
